An Update! We presented to the Petaluma Parks and Recreation department and it went great! They understand the need, the communities desires and frustrations.
They have offered an open space area beside the Petaluma Airport to assess for our needs; the first named the Airport Open Space (the triangle shaped section with public access off the bend at Appaloosa Circle) and then the Washington Creek Open Space that spans from the Airport Open Space to Washington Creek. This is 21/2 acres and we are working on understanding if this space is feasible and what the costs would be to create a safe and well managed dog park for Petaluma.

We feel very excited by the Parks & Recs wanting to partner with Petaluma Dog Park Project to make a safe and fun Dog Park for our town.
Currently we are in need of donations to do the ground work to get our Project moving. If you’ like to donate or recommend a business that would like to be a Founding Friend of the Dog Park please email us at petalumadogparkproject@gmail.com
Safe. Welcoming. Community-Focused.
We believe dog parks are more than recreation spaces—they strengthen community connection, support mental and physical health, and improve quality of life for residents of all ages.
Petaluma is a dog-loving community, yet many residents feel our current dog-friendly spaces fall short in safety, accessibility, and overall experience. We’re a community-led committee advocating for a modern, thoughtfully designed dog park that better serves both residents and their dogs.
